Rowan Loft

A historical loft conversion shaped by care, light, and livability.

Rowan Loft began as a historic structure with strong character and clear limitations. The opportunity was not to modernize it beyond recognition, but to convert it thoughtfully into a home that supports everyday living while respecting its past.

Our process started with understanding the building’s original form and materials. As with many older loft structures, the space required careful evaluation before any changes were made. Outdated and unsafe materials were removed to address health and safety concerns, ensuring the space could be responsibly occupied.

From there, we rebuilt the essential systems that make a loft livable day to day. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure were upgraded to modern standards, allowing the home to function reliably without compromising its historical framework. These improvements were foundational and informed how the rest of the space could be designed.

With the core systems in place, attention turned to the interior experience. The layout was refined to balance openness with functionality, preserving the volume and light that define loft living while creating clear zones for daily use. Natural light was prioritized, and sightlines were adjusted to make the space feel expansive without feeling unfinished.

Design decisions were guided by restraint and respect. Materials were selected to complement the building’s history while supporting durability and comfort. The goal was a finished loft that feels intentional, warm, and ready to live in, not a space that feels staged or temporary.

Rowan Loft reflects Revival’s approach to adaptive reuse. By honoring the structure, investing in the systems that matter, and designing for real life, the conversion delivers a home that carries its history forward with integrity.
